Vo Thanh Huong – Queen of Compassionate Cinema 2024 – is a prime example of a modern woman who harmoniously combines knowledge, art, and a compassionate heart. From her high school years, she was exposed to various art forms such as painting, dance, and music. This foundation nurtured in her a refined soul, rich in emotion, and an enduring love for beauty.
Before becoming a university lecturer, Vo Thanh Huong was a broadcaster for Quy Nhon Television Station. Her expressive voice and confident demeanor helped her make a lasting impression on viewers. Afterward, she graduated with a major in Linguistics from the Faculty of Literature – Ho Chi Minh City University (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City) and was retained by the university to become a lecturer teaching Vietnamese to foreigners. For her, teaching is not just a profession, but also a mission to spread the Vietnamese language and culture to the world.
Alongside her professional work, Vo Thanh Huong has always nurtured her passion for dancing since childhood. For many years, she has actively participated in Zumba dance groups as a way to express her emotions through body and music, while maintaining her health and mental balance. Three years ago, the “Fun with Dance Steps” program on Ho Chi Minh City Television produced a documentary about her and her dance group, reflecting the positive impact of sports on mental well-being. Currently, she still regularly performs and releases dance videos on YouTube and social media.
Besides her artistic pursuits, Vo Thanh Huong has also been involved in charitable work for over ten years with the Saigon Pink Heart Charity group, supporting the education of underprivileged children in many localities. For her, a meaningful life is a life of sharing with the community.
